What is the purpose of having a Colonic?

Being toxic and struggling with poor health can make life very difficult, draining energy reserves and making you irritable, tired and stressed, leading to a downward spiral. Accumulated waste material, (impacted faeces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites, worms etc.) which has remained in the colon for some time, may cause from mild to severe health problems.
This accumulated waste can be quite toxic and these toxic substances are able to pass through the wall of an unhealthy colon and enter the bloodstream making us feel ill. A build up of unwanted material in the colon can reduce its muscular action, causing it to become sluggish and ‘lazy’. Assimilation of important vitamins and minerals can also be compromised.
Listed below are conditions that may have been caused through having a ‘toxic’ colon and that could benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy. This list is not exhaustive, and a sample of the possible effects of an unhealthy colon.

Acid reflux (heartburn) / Allergies / Arthritis / Asthma / Backache / Bloating / Candida / Constipation / Diarrhoea / Diverticulosis / Fasting (colon hydrotherapy can reduce the more negative side effects of fasting – headaches and fatigue) / Flatulence / Foul body odour / Halitosis (bad breath) / Headaches / Hypotonic (‘lazy’) bowel / IBS / Indigestion / Intestinal / toxaemia / Leaky gut / Lethargy / Multiple sclerosis / ME / Parasitic infections / Skin problems (eczema, psoriasis, acne etc) / Urinary urgency in females

What Does Colon Hydrotherapy Do?

The aims of Colon Hydrotherapy are to cleanse the colon, stimulate peristalsis, (contraction and relaxation of the colon) re-shape it and stimulate reflex points.

An experienced, highly trained and skilled colon hydrotherapist is able to assess the general health of the intestines, locating areas of inflammation, spasticity and dysfunction. Laura uses specific massage techniques, during the colonic hydrotherapy treatment, to bring blood, oxygen and nutrients to the intestines, helping to break down contractions and improve function.
Regular Colon Hydrotherapy treatments over the longer term may lead to improvements in liver and kidney function, better digestion, and strengthening of the Immune System. Colon Hydrotherapy is particularly effective when used in conjunction with other natural therapies, such as nutrition and herbalism. Clients report feeling younger, fitter and healthier, having a new zest for life, helping them to go forward and enjoy each day and deal with the many problems that life presents them with.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic massage treatment that uses gentle, rhythmic movements to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid in the lymphatic system. Here are some of the potential benefits of lymphatic drainage

Benefits of a Lymphatic Drainage

Detoxification

Lymphatic drainage helps to flush out toxins and waste products from the body by improving lymph circulation. This can help reduce inflammation and promote overall detoxification.

Reduction of Swelling

Lymphatic drainage can help reduce swelling, especially in areas where lymphatic fluid may accumulate, such as after surgery or injury. It can be particularly beneficial for managing conditions like lymphedema.

Immune System Support

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in the body’s immune response by carrying white blood cells and other immune cells throughout the body. Stimulating lymphatic flow through drainage can help support the immune system.

Improved Circulation

By enhancing lymphatic circulation, lymphatic drainage can also help improve overall blood circulation in the body. This can contribute to better oxygen and nutrient delivery to cells and tissues.

Relaxation and Stress Reduction

The gentle, soothing movements used in lymphatic drainage can promote relaxation and reduce stress. This can have a positive impact on overall well-being and help the body enter a state of rest and healing.

Pain Relief

Lymphatic drainage can help reduce pain and discomfort associated with conditions like fibromyalgia, arthritis, and chronic fatigue syndrome by decreasing inflammation and promoting healing.

Skin Health

Improved lymphatic circulation can also benefit the skin by promoting the removal of waste and toxins, which can help reduce skin congestion, acne, and other skin conditions.

Post-Surgery Recovery

ymphatic drainage is often recommended as part of the post-operative care for procedures such as liposuction or cosmetic surgeries to reduce swelling, bruising, and promote healing.

It is important to note that while lymphatic drainage can have many benefits, it may not be suitable for everyone. It’s always best to consult with a qualified healthcare provider or a licensed massage therapist before undergoing lymphatic drainage treatment, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.

Juice Fasting

What is juice fasting?

Juice fasting is the choice to abstain from food for a period of days and instead consume healthy, vegetable based juices. Choosing to juice helps your body to pre-digest nutrients in the food, which increases absorption and gives your digestion a rest.

Normally we recommend juicing with organic vegetables and the addition of lemon juice and root ginger or turmeric can also enhance the flavour and provide additional health benefits. Sometimes a minimal amount of fruit is also added to these juices from apples and pears. This is particularly useful for those new to juice fasting and adjusting to the new flavours.

How does juice fasting work?

Having the fibre removed by juicing vegetables means that the pure goodness of the juice is easily absorbed by the body and all the beneficial nutrients are readily available to be utilised by the relevant cells.
Your body is naturally trying to detoxify all the time via the main detoxification organs. Unwanted toxins are eliminated via the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs and the lymphatic system.
Juice fasting reduces the stress on the body’s detoxification processes, allowing it to naturally reduce your overall toxicity level. This process enhances the body’s repair and healing mechanisms, helping to restore optimal functioning.

Scientific studies have shown that fasting for more than a number of days stimulates a healing process in the body via a reduction in oxidative damage and inflammation, optimisation of energy metabolism, and bolstering of cellular protection. When we fast, our cells change from ‘divide mode’ to ‘repair mode’.
